The DJI Neo 2 and DJI Lito 1 sit at the cheaper end of DJI's range, and they're both popular first drones. But they're designed for quite different things.

Based on manufacturer specifications and independent reviews — we haven't lab-tested these. Specs and bundles vary, so check the listing before you buy.

Two different philosophies

The Neo 2 is a flying action camera. It launches from your palm, follows you as you walk, run or cycle, and lands back in your hand. You don't even need a controller.

The Lito 1 is a "proper" camera drone in miniature. It has a three-axis gimbal for steadier footage, a traditional controller for long-range flying, and almost double the flight time.

Camera and footage

Both use a similar-sized sensor, so in good light image quality is broadly comparable. The difference is stability and framing: the Lito 1's three-axis gimbal smooths out roll as well as tilt and pan, which matters for sweeping landscape shots in wind. The Neo 2 excels at automatic tracking shots of you.

Flight time and range

This is the biggest practical difference. Around 19 minutes per Neo 2 battery versus up to 36 minutes for the Lito 1 (manufacturer figures — real-world times are shorter, especially in wind and cold). For landscapes and exploring, the Lito 1 gives you far more time in the air.

UK rules: the same for both

Both are over 100g with a camera, so you need a Flyer ID and an Operator ID. Both are under 250g, so both fly in the flexible A1 subcategory. See DJI Neo 2 UK rules and our UK drone rules guide.

Our verdict

DJI Neo 2

Palm launch, follow-me tracking, gesture and voice control, built-in storage. Simple and fun.

Best for: Walkers, runners, cyclists and vloggers who want hands-free footage of themselves

DJI Lito 1

Three-axis gimbal, remote controller and up to 36 minutes' flight time (manufacturer figure). A real camera drone under 249g.

Best for: Holidays, landscapes and anyone who wants to *fly*, not just be followed

Still unsure? If you can stretch the budget, the DJI Lito X1 adds a bigger sensor and LiDAR. And whichever you choose, factor in spare batteries — see our essential accessories guide.
